University success with new european funding
The SEP and Cardiff University have
been successful in obtaining North West Europe Interreg IIIb funding to aid
development of innovative ICZM (integrated coastal zone management) work around
Europe. The 2 million Euro project, entitled COREPOINT, is led by Cork University

The SEP will be involved in-
- Strengthening links between local
authorities and university research, and development of an Estuary research
forum
- Development of information management
for IT and ICZM
- Reviewing the estuary management
programme, focusing on long term trends and pressures, external policy, and
triggers for change
- Training modules or Coastal Practitioners
and establishing NW Europe as a ICZM School of global excellence.
