Background of Organisation
English Heritage is advisory body to the government. Its advisory role is exercised on matters related to scheduled monuments, listed buildings and registered parks and gardens.
Organisational Objectives
English Heritage's work falls broadly into three main categories:- Identifying buildings of historical or architectural interest and ancient monuments for protection
- Assisting their owners and other bodies with conservation responsibilities to secure the future of England's historic environment
- Helping the public to appreciate, understand and enjoy the built heritage
