Background of Organisation
In 1991 First Corporate Shipping Limited, purchased a 150 year lease of the Avonmouth and Royal Portbury Dock Estate from Bristol City Council.
Organisational Objectives
The Company's role is to:
- Manage ships coming into the Bristol Port.
- Distribute products and services to people within a 250 km radius which has been recognised as the most economical port distribution location in the UK.
- Offer sites for industrial use within the Dock Estate.
- To invest in the technology, the skills and the people who make it happen
to provide a climate for innovation.
Relevant Policies, Projects & Activities
In the event of a polluting incident if the port company assesses that
the action taken by the master is inadequate, then further counter-pollution
measures will be initiated using on-site, regional or national assets.
The Company also in its managing capacity observes activity and reminds
the ship master that the discharge of ballast or surface water on to the
quay walls which is not permitted . All discharge should be from the outboard
side only.
