About SECG
The Severn Estuary Coastal
Group was formed in 1993 initially to deal with the preparation and
completion of the first Shoreline Management plan for the Estuary area
from upstream of Lavernock Point west of Cardiff and Brean Down in Somerset.
Current Activities
- Exchange of
coastal defence information between authorities in the area and with
national bodies
- Encouragement
of research into coastal issues and dissemination of information.
- Completion,
review and updating of the Shoreline Management Plan for the Estuary
- based on a 5 yearly cycle. The first plan was completed in 2001.

- Providing input
to the DEFRA and Welsh Assembly High Level Targets related to flooding.

The Shoreline Management
Plan Review (SMP2) for the Severn Estuary is now complete for consultation.
