The majority of statutory organisations around the
estuary continue to subscribe to ASERA.
Activities - all statutory organisations continue to review their
activities annually to assess if they are impacting on the designated
birds and habitats. English Nature and the Countryside Council for
Wales help with this process. These reviews contribute to the management
scheme being updated annually after the ASERA AGM each November.
Awareness - ASERA, with the help of the Advisory Group, have produced
a leaflet promoting the birds and habitats of the Special Protection
Area and encouraging users and residents to consider how they use
the estuary to ensure that birds and their habitats are not disturbed
or damaged.
Recreation groups have been initiated at Bridgwater Bay, Woodspring
Bay and Severn Beach, with the initial remit of identifying the
main recreation interests in these areas. The groups will then progress
to assess how these recreation interests can best co-exist with
the nature conservation interests.
